How to make SOPs your VA will actually follow
1 min read
A written SOP looks complete to the person who wrote it, because that person fills in every gap from memory. Your VA doesn't have that memory. Showing the task on screen closes the gaps, and a few habits make the result easy to follow.
Keep it to one task
“Weekly admin” isn't a task. “Send the Friday client report” is. Short recordings are easier to find, easier to update, and easier to follow without pausing every ten seconds.
Do it for real, at normal speed
Don't perform the task, just do it. Puradoc writes the narration from your clicks, so you don't need a script. Talk if it helps you think, or stay quiet and let the voiceover handle it.
Say why, not only what
After recording, read through the generated script and add the reasons that only you know: “We use the March template because the client's finance team asked for it.” Re-voice just that line and the rest stays as it was.
Give them both versions
- The video, for the first time they do the task.
- The written step-by-step guide, for every time after that.
Most people watch once and then follow the written steps. Puradoc makes both from the same recording, so they never drift apart.
