The short version
Puradoc turns your screen recordings into walkthrough videos. To do that we keep the recordings you make, and a few details about them, in your account. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use tracking cookies. You can delete your recordings whenever you like.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address, your name if you give it, and a password if you set one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
Your recordings. The video of the tab, window or screen you choose to record. If you turn on your camera or microphone, that video and sound too. Plus anything made from your recordings: transcripts, scripts, AI voiceovers, guides and your edits.
Clicks while you record a tab. When you record a browser tab, the extension notes where you click and move the cursor (as positions in the window), when you start typing in a field, the visible label of the button or field you used, and the page’s title. That is how Puradoc knows where to zoom in. It never reads what you type, so passwords and other text you enter stay out of it.
Billing. If you subscribe, Stripe handles your payment. We keep your plan and billing status. We never see or store your full card number.
Usage. How many credits you’ve used, and basic server logs (like IP address and browser) that help us keep the service running and secure.
The Chrome extension
The Puradoc Software and App Screen Recorder extension only collects anything after you press record, and only from the tab, window or screen you picked. It stops when you press stop. It doesn’t look at your browsing history or the other tabs you have open.
The extension sends your recording and click data only to your own Puradoc account. On your device it remembers only your settings: whether the camera is on and which camera you picked.
The use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we use it
We use your data only to run Puradoc for you:
- to turn your recordings into videos and guides, with zooms, scripts and voiceovers
- to show and share your videos the way you choose
- to sign you in, keep track of your plan and credits, and bill you
- to answer you when you contact us, and to keep the service secure
We don’t sell your data, use it for ads, or use it to decide anything about your credit or lending.
Who helps us run it
A few companies process data for us, only to provide their service to Puradoc:
- Supabase stores your account, your recordings and their files.
- Vercel and Railway host the website and the servers that process recordings.
- OpenAI turns the speech in your recordings into text and creates AI voiceovers.
- Anthropic writes the step-by-step scripts from your transcript.
- Stripe handles payments.
- Google handles sign-in if you choose “Continue with Google.”
We may also share data if the law requires it, or to protect Puradoc and its users from fraud or abuse. If Puradoc is ever sold or merged, your data would move with it under this policy.
Sharing your videos
Your recordings are private to your account. When you share a video, anyone with that link can watch it, and it isn’t listed in search engines. You can stop sharing at any time, and the link stops working.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your recordings until you delete them, and your account until you ask us to close it. When you delete a recording, its video and files are removed. When you close your account, we delete your recordings and account data within 30 days, except billing records we’re required to keep.
Your choices
You can delete any recording from your library. To get a copy of your data, correct it, or close your account and delete everything, email pattlesportinggoods@gmail.com. We’ll reply within 30 days.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights over your data, and you can use them the same way. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and recordings are stored in private storage that only your account can reach. No service is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will tell you if a breach affects it.
Children
Puradoc isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For big changes, we’ll also tell you by email or in the app.
